Terms of Service

1. Agreement to terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Daily Lion ("Daily Lion", "we", "us"), operated from Israel, governing your use of the Daily Lion mobile application, the dailylionmedia.com website, and related services (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of the Service

Daily Lion is an Israel commentary podcast. There are four shows, and one new episode is published each weekday morning, Monday to Thursday: Sixty One (Monday, domestic politics), Crosswinds (Tuesday, foreign affairs), All Fronts (Wednesday, defense and security), and Tribe & State (Thursday, Israel and the Jewish people). Each episode is two AI co-hosts working through what Israel's commentary writers argued that week, in English, drawing on writing published in English and Hebrew.

Key characteristics you acknowledge by using the Service:

  • Episodes are AI-generated. Scripts are written by artificial intelligence systems reading published commentary, and the two co-host voices are produced by AI speech generation. The co-hosts are not real people. Episodes are not written or narrated by human journalists.
  • Episodes are commentary on commentary, not original reporting. We do not report news and we do not investigate. Each episode describes, compares, and explains arguments published by third-party writers and publications. That writing belongs to those writers and outlets, and describing an argument is not endorsing it. Daily Lion takes no position on Israeli politics: it reads the people who do and explains them. The show is written from inside Israel, for people who take what happens here personally, in Israel and abroad.
  • Source labels are editorial judgments we make. The app lists the publications we read and labels each one "left", "center", or "right". These labels reflect our editorial judgment, are approximate, and may not match your view of any given outlet. Listing a publication is not an endorsement of it.
  • Episodes are shared, not personalized. Every listener who receives an episode receives the same one. Nothing is generated on request, and no episode is tailored to you or to your listening history. The number of shows, their subjects, and the length, timing, and format of episodes may change as the Service develops.
  • An episode can be missed. Episodes are produced automatically and are checked before publication. An episode that fails those checks is held or withdrawn, and in that case there is no episode from that show that week. We do not guarantee that any particular episode will appear.
  • Free access and membership. The news roundup that opens every episode is free to everyone; the deep dive that follows is for members. Episode pages on our website are public: anyone with the link can read the transcript and hear the free news roundup.

3. Accuracy disclaimer

AI-generated commentary can contain errors, omissions, mistranslations (much of what we read is in Hebrew), misattributions of an argument to the wrong writer or publication, or statements that misrepresent what a source actually argued. The Service is provided for general informational purposes only. It is not a substitute for reading the original writing, and it is not professional, legal, financial, safety, or emergency advice. Do not rely on the Service as your sole source for decisions of consequence, including safety-related decisions. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any episode. Views described in an episode belong to the writer or publication being described, not to us.

4. Eligibility and accounts

  • You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 where required by local law) to use the Service. See section 15.
  • You must register an account using email, Google Sign-In, or Sign in with Apple. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping access to your login method secure.
  • You may delete your account at any time in the app, on the Account tab.

5. License grant and restrictions

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app and stream episodes for your own personal, non-commercial use.

You may not:

  • copy, redistribute, publicly perform, rebroadcast, or resell episodes or transcripts;
  • share, record, or re-host the member portion of an episode, or circumvent the boundary between the free portion of an episode and the full episode;
  • scrape, bulk-download, or systematically extract content from the Service;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, or circumvent technical or membership restrictions;
  • use the Service to build a competing dataset or train machine-learning models;
  • use the Service in violation of any applicable law.

Sharing a public episode link from the app is expressly permitted.

6. Membership and billing

  • Daily Lion offers free access to the news roundup that opens every episode, and a paid membership for the full episodes. What is included in each, and the price of membership, are those described in the app at the time you subscribe. We may add, remove, rename, or change the composition and pricing of any plan.
  • Memberships are purchased through Apple App Store or Google Play in-app purchase and are governed by the respective store's billing terms. Payment, renewal, cancellation, and refunds are handled by Apple or Google, not by us directly; manage or cancel your membership in your store account settings or through the manage-membership screen in the app, which hands you to the store. Memberships auto-renew until cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Where a free trial is offered, it converts to a paid membership unless cancelled before the trial ends.
  • Prices may change; changes apply at your next renewal and you will be notified as required by the applicable store. If you do not accept a price change, you may cancel before it takes effect.
  • Except where required by law or by store policy, payments are non-refundable.
  • If a paid feature is discontinued during a period you have paid for, we will offer a reasonable remedy, which may include a comparable feature or a pro-rata refund through the relevant store.

7. User conduct and prohibited uses

You agree not to: (a) interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure; (b) attempt unauthorized access to any systems or other users' accounts; (c) misrepresent your identity to us; (d) use automated means to access the Service except as permitted by us in writing; (e) use the Service where prohibited by law.

8. Intellectual property

  • The app, the website, the brand, the design, the shows and their co-host characters, and the specific expression of episode scripts, transcripts, and audio are owned by us or our licensors.
  • The commentary an episode discusses belongs to the writers and publications who wrote it. Episodes identify those writers and publications by name and draw on their published work; nothing in these Terms grants you rights in that third-party content. We hold copies of published articles only for as long as the production pipeline needs them and delete the article text on a timer.
  • If you are a writer or publisher and believe an episode has used your work unfairly or described your argument wrongly, write to legal@dailylionmedia.com and we will look at it.
  • Feedback you send us may be used by us without obligation to you.

9. Third-party services

The Service depends on third-party platforms, including the app store you installed from, any identity provider you sign in with, and our hosting, infrastructure, membership-management, and AI providers. The categories of these providers are described in our Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for third-party services, their availability, or their terms. Links or references to third-party publications are not endorsements.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AND UNINTERRUPTED AVAILABILITY. EPISODES MAY OCCASIONALLY BE LATE, MISSING, WITHDRAWN, OR UNAVAILABLE. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN WARRANTY DISCLAIMERS, SO PARTS OF THIS SECTION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

11. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE AND (B) US $50. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain liability limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

12. Indemnification

You will indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms or your unlawful use of the Service.

13. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including 8, 10, 11, 12, and 14) survive.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be resolved in the competent courts of Tel Aviv-Jaffa, except where mandatory consumer-protection law gives you the right to bring claims in the courts of your own country of residence. Nothing in this section limits rights you have under mandatory local law.

15. Age restrictions

The Service is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in jurisdictions where a higher minimum applies to data processing consent). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children below these ages; if you believe a child is using the Service, contact us and we will delete the account.

16. Changes to the Service and these Terms

We may modify the Service (including the shows, the publications we read, features, and episode format) at any time. We may update these Terms; material changes will be announced in the app or by email before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree, stop using the Service and delete your account.

17. Severability and entire agreement

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remainder stays in effect. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
